Cocoa is a very important cash crop in southern Ghana and it ranks among the top 3 foreign exchange earners for the national economy. Ghana ‘s cocoa is known as the world’s premium cocoa due to its unique characteristics resulting from the careful handling by farmers through the pod breaking, fermentation and drying processes. Visitors to Adjeikrom have the opportunity to tour rural cocoa farms and learn how cocoa is grown, maintained, harvested, fermented and dried.
Historically, the village is of political significance as it is the birthplace of one of Ghana’s freedom fighters, a member of the Big Six called Ako Adjei. Ghana’s first President used to come to this village with Dr. Adjei and others to strategize the fight for independence.
