The Ghana Rural Ecotourism and Travel Office (GREET) was founded to support the growth of rural tourism in Ghana and associated benefits to rural communities. Through its booking office and internet presence, GREET provides accurate, up-to-date information to visitors and a convenient portal to make reservations for rural destinations.

GREET is also dedicated to preserving Ghana’s (and global) environmental quality, as well as its culture and traditions. GREET promotes sustainable growth for communities to preserve the natural and cultural history of rural communities for future generations.

GREET is building on a successful partnership over the past decade to nurture more than 30 authentic, community-owned/operated rural ecotourism destinations in Ghana. Now recognized as especially successful among African conservation efforts, the strength of this model is retaining local ownership and the development within local communities themselves of tourism and resource management expertise. Due in significant part to this effort, tourism in Ghana has grown approximately 15% per year. Most important, this growth is preserving and strengthening communities and their resources, rather than negatively impacting them.
